Drops of light / The Body Shop

I have been testing The Body Shop’s, Drops Of Light range for a while now and it has finally been launched in stores! Here is my take on this range and how I used them step by step.

Most of you know I have sensitive skin so I’m always a little two-minded when it comes to trying new products, but I gave this range a go since my skin has been feeling dull with dark spots and I’m glad I did.

1. Clarifying Foam Wash

This product purifies without stripping the skin. I start off my day massaging this rich and creamy foam wash to cleanse and clarify. I was impressed by how my skin didn’t feel tight after using this product unlike many other brands that I’ve tried.

2. Pure Translucency Essence Lotion

I generally have dry skin and now that winter is approaching my skin is going to slowly start feeling like it’s in drought. This gel-to-water texture is supposed to boost hydration which it did. Just wait a minute or two to let it sink in before applying the next product.

3. Pure Healthy Brightening Serum

Okay, so this is my favourite out of the entire range. This product is supposed to minimise my pores (yassss) and reduce skin imperfection and helps the skin look brighter. I have only been using this range for 2 weeks and I love how my skin is already starting to look and feel. I love how non-sticky this serum is and the skin instantly absorbs the product.

4. Pure Healthy Brightening Day Cream

So this silky texture combined with its amazing scent just blew me away. My skin texture instantly looked smoother and felt softer and so moisturised. It’s going to take some time to get rid of all my dark spots, but I’m really excited to see the results in a couple of weeks

5. Pure Resurfacing Liquid Peel

In all honesty, this was the one product that I wasn’t really impressed with. At first I forgot to shake the bottle before pressing the nozzle and left the product on longer for 20 seconds which resulted the clumps sticking to my skin and it took forever to get it all off my skin. I tried it once again, this time remembering to shake the bottle and counted down the 20 seconds, although it did take a while to get it all off, my skin did feel smoother. Overall this product isn’t something I would use again, the results weren’t great enough to go through the process of getting this peel off my skin.

This range gets a 4 out of 5 from me. I really do love this range and would definitely recommend you to purchase it and try it out for yourself!

Shades of cool

Hello guuuuys,

So there are days where I’m running late or I’m just feeling a little lazy to do a full face of makeup, but I’m on my way to meet someone important and I have to at least look like I put in a little time and effort in to my makeup.

Well, I’ve found the perfect hack to this dilemma,

I throw on a beautiful pair of shades and complete the look with a stunning lipstick that will compliment my outfit.

Add a thin layer of foundation and a little blush and you’re all set.

This little hack has saved me more times than you can imagine, I hope it saves you too!

Ofra illuminating blush stripes!

Hey guys,

As you might’ve noticed I’m currently obsessed with all things Ofra but their blush stripes compact palette in “Illuminating” is my favourite!

These shiny magical strips are extremely shimmery and metallic (I felt like I was glowing in the dark at the Skin Ceuticals event yesterday!)

The buttery formulation helped the product glide on and blend into my skin.

Because the product is compact sized, it’s perfect to slip into my handbag. The purpose of the Illuminator is two-fold and can be used as a highlighter as well as eyeshadow.

I haven’t personally tried this product on as an eyeshadow just yet, but I’m really keen to experiment soon and share the results with you guys.

You can purchase the Illuminator directly from the @ofracosmeticssa website! I have swatched the product in the photos below. Enjoy!

Literally an entire season has gone by since I last posted on my blog, how have you all been?

I love autumn, mainly because it’s the season just before my favourite. I love it when the leaves start changing colour and the hot days start to cool down, giving me a reason to drink another cup of coffee.

I have a lot to catch you up on and a lot of new content up my sleeve.

But if you’ve been wondering where I’ve been all this time. Well, I’ve been playing around with YouTube.

Here’s the direct link to my channel! See you guys real soon.

All the love,

Hi guys!

I absolutely love my neutrals, but I’ve decided that it’s time to add some colour to my wardrobe.

I received a beautiful embroided bomber jacket from Nala, which I paired with stone pants, a black top and finally some coral colored heels that I’ve had in my wardrobe for yeeeears.

I really enjoyed wearing this outfit and taking these images and hope you enjoy it too!

Modest look – My go to outfit style this summer

Hi guys!

Most of you know this about me; I don’t like summer very much.

I mean sure, the sunsets are absolutely breathtaking in the Cape and those lazy summer nights on the beach make up for anyone who has had the most exhausting week.

But let’s admit it, nothing beats dramatically staring out the car window while it’s raining and the radio is playing your favourite sad music, movie moment HELLO. Everything is better in winter, especially the fashion.

I used to struggle a lot trying to dress modestly under the African sun, but I’ve finally found my go to style this summer – especially when I’m in a rush and don’t have time to double check if my bum is covered!

I’m pretty grateful that wearing a hijab (covering my hair) is mostly never the reason that I feel the heat.

Below you will notice a trend in my style. A skinny jeans, usually a simple top (I will wear a bit more of a glam top depending on where I need to be) and the most noticeable garment; a long thin and airy kimono / open abaya.

Hope you enjoy the images!

Jiah – Restaurant review

I hope all of you has a pleasant and safe festive season. I’ve had an incredibly busy one filled with love & joy, but I’m glad to be back. I have so many exciting things happening this year and I wish I could tell you all about it, but everything will start unfolding in due time.

Let’s continue with my thoughts on Jiah – 100% halaal upmarket restaurant situated in the heart of Cape Town

Jiah is generally raved about on social media being one of the very few 100% halaal upmarket restaurants in this city, so when my friends invited me out one evening to try it out I immediately said yes.

Bookings were made, though they did mention that each booking gets you a two hour slot, which seemed reasonable because that is generally the time one would spend in a restaurant.

Once we were seated and paging through the menu we were informed that certain items on the menu were not available, a bit disappointed because bookings are essential at Jiah, so they should know the amount of customer flow to expect hence, knowing how much stock of each ingredient they should have. Anyways, we finally decided to order and much to our disappointment, more items were out of stock.

A little bit annoyed, but we decided to order the alternate and patiently started waiting for our food.

Food arrived at different times, meaning one person would have to start eating before the other, at this point I wasn’t sure if they were just having a bad day or their service is generally this bad. Getting a waitrons attention is close to impossible – extremely slow service.

My food finally arrived and almost instantly I started smiling, the food was presented amazingly and everything looked delicious. I ordered the Chicken Supreme. It was delicious, the portion seemed reasonable and it was cooked well & tasted lovely.

I personally feel that Jiah needs to work on their customer service, my friend received their water in a cracked glass with a chip on the edge, they also need to move where they make the drinks, the sound of that blender interrupting your conversation is not fun. Also, the two hour slot is not enough if your service is going to be this slow.

The food was really good, I tried my friends pasta, if I ever had to go back I would definitely be ordering that. Although I didn’t manage to sneak a taste from my friends steak, it was apparently also really amazing.

Jiah has a lot of potential, I’m really hoping they improve their customer service if they plan on staying an upmarket restaurant in Cape Town.

All the love,

How to choose the correct foundation

To me the most important part of your makeup routine should be your skin. Once your skin looks smooth and flawless, you can basically slay any look.

The key to flawless coverage is choosing the correct foundation. No, I’m not just talking about the foundation shade, the texture, ingredients, wearability and coverage all play an extremely important role. You need to find the foundation that agrees with your oily, dry or combination skin.

Your first step is to figure out what type of skin you have. Remember, it’s normal if your skin changes with the season. I usually have combination skin, but last winter my skin was completely dry and I had to change a lot of my routines.

Next, you have to figure out what your skin undertone colour is. Do you have a warm or cool undertone?

Now you need to decide how much coverage you would like. When my skin was going through a really terrible phase and a new breakout would happen every second day! My holy grail for my skin would be full coverage, but I would avoid using foundation as much as possible to let my skin breathe. Now my skin is doing quite well and I’m loving the medium coverage for when I’m off to a special event. (I use BB cream for every day use)

Right, so once those three have been set and decided, it’s time to find a brand that has what you’re looking for and the trickiest part is to look for and find the correct shade.

It’s every girls nightmare to spend a good amount of money on foundation and end up looking like you went for the wrong tan and now you resemble an orange or your foundation makes you look like you’ve applied your concealer all over your face instead of just under your eyes. Honey, no. We need to avoid this at all costs.

Don’t be afraid to ask for testers. The oxytocin level in the air does change your foundation shade once applied to your skin. Get a tester and make sure your skin reacts positively and the coverage and wearability is what you are looking for before purchasing the foundation.

If you’re not sure what type of skin you have, ask a consultant in store or your makeup artist. If you’re looking to purchase makeup and not sure which basics to purchase, email me to book a shopping session where I hit the malls with you and guide you through the purchasing of all the right products.

I hope this post helps you to purchase the correct foundation.

I had such an amazing time at the Havaiana Step Into Summer ’16 event, I met a bunch of new and inspiring people and caught up with a couple of friends I had made through social media and other events.

With drinks, desserts and pedicures, they really went all out and outdid themselves! I thought I’d share some images from the event with you guys, enjoy!
